This picture shows the 1946 Newark Eagles, that season’s winner of the Negro World Series. The Eagles, led by future Major Leaguers Larry Doby and Monte Irvin, defeated the favored Kansas City Monarchs in a hard fought seven-game series. The Eagles were owned by Effa Manley, the first woman to own and operate a professional baseball team.
Six members of the Eagles signed this photograph, including Hall of Famers Doby, Irvin, and Leon Day. Other signatures include Rufus Lewis, Max Manning, and Bob Harvey. These signatures are all written in blue pen. This photograph comes in a 11x13 inch frame. This multi-signed photograph comes with a full LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
