Winter 2020 Catalog Auction Ending Feb 22

Graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by PSA. Hall of Famer. This impeccable example stands alone at its tier – separated from its lesser counterparts by a staggering four-increment margin – and none has been graded higher. Collectibles associated with the Sports Exchange – boasting images credited to the "International News Photo" agency – were among the first issues produced after World War II. The cards were distributed through ads placed in the trading card publication "The Trading Post," and were released in three groups of six 6-card panels that were designed to be cut apart by the consumer. Each 36-card series sold for $1, and no single cards were available for sale. Each of the three series had its own distinctly colored border framing a black-and-white image of the player. The crisply uncirculated specimen offered here radiates absolutely pristine, fundamentally unimprovable quality. Outstanding and unique Near Mint to Mint-plus condition.
This is just one component in a substantial line-up of significant Joe Jackson items presented in this Winter 2020 sale. Vintage trading cards featuring "Shoeless Joe" – the most important figure involved in the forever-fascinating "Black Sox" scandal surrounding the 1919 World Series – are scarce, avidly sought-after mementos of one of baseball's legendary figures.
