Former shortstop Marty Marion played his entire career in the city of St. Louis with his first 11 seasons with the Cardinals and the final two seasons with the Browns. Marion was the 1944 National League MVP and a seven-time all-star. Marion ordered this Hillerich & Bradsby H143 model bat and it was used during the 1948 and 1949 seasons. This bat displays solid game use and has a crack on the upper handle. There are ball marks and slight checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the front and back barrel. The model number “H143” is stamped on the knob and the number “18”, which is from another player, is handwritten in blue pen on the knob as well. The knob has a slight chip. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12796) for the game use, but use by Marion cannot be determined.
