      “Spahn and Sain and Pray For Rain” was the rallying cry for the 1948 Boston Braves team who finished 6 ½ games ahead of the second place St. Louis Cardinals to win the 1948 National League pennant. Led by the pitching of Hall of Famer Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain, the Braves would ride the two arms to a 91-62 record. This Official League Baseball has been signed by 29 members of the 1948 National League Champions in black ink. Hall of Famer Billy Southworth, the manager of the 1948 team, has signed his name on the sweet spot. One side panel has the signature of Phil Masi, Clyde Shoun, Paul Burris, Bill Voiselle, Hall of Famer Warren Spahn, Vern Bickford, and Bill Salkeld. The opposite side of the panel has the signature of Earl Torgeson, Johnny Sain, Connie Ryan, Frank McCormick, Bobby Hogue, Bob Elliott, Sibby Sisti and Red Barrett. The panel with the Spalding stamp has the signatures of Clint Conaster, Nelson Potter, Mike McCormick, Bob Keely, Tommy Holmes (clubhouse version), Al Dark (clubhouse version) and Ray Sanders. The panel with the “CORK CENTER” stamp has the signatures of Bob Sturgeon, Ernie White, Marv Rickert, Si Johnson, Ed Stanky and Al Lyons. This baseball is in excellent condition with only minor toning, the signatures are clear and the stampings are crisp. This baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AB11869).
