Presented is a 108-card complete set of 1948 Bowman football cards which have been placed in their original album (nine twelve-card pages, plus an additional page). Encouraged by the great success of their 1948 baseball series, Bowman decided to try their hand at football cards later in the year. The result was an ambitious offering that was very similar in design to the inaugural baseball issue. Densely populated with Hall of Famers and rookies, the checklist reads like a "Who's Who" of the era. Key rookies include Sammy Baugh, Sid Luckman, Johnny Lujack, Pete Pihos, Bob Waterfield and others. Approximately half of the set presents at the VG to VG/EX level (balance is lesser), however are downgradd due to creasing and wrinkling due to being placed in the album pages. It then, is not recommended that the cards be removed from this scarce album. The conditions of the backs are unknown. Highlights include #1 Tereshinski, #3 Lujack, 7 Van Buren, 12 Conerly, 17 Trippi, #22 Baugh, 26 Waterfield RC, 36 Turner, 61 Wojciechowicz, 63 Pihos, 80 Dudley, 95 McAfee, 99 Gilmer, 107 Luckman and 108 Ray.
