Pitcher Jim Hearn wore this home St. Louis Cardinals jersey during the 1948 season. Hearn, in his second year in the Majors, posted an 8-6 record with a 4.22 ERA with the Redbirds, who finished second in the National League. This classic Cardinals’ flannel zipper-down jersey has “Cardinals” sewn on across the chest in red and blue chenille stitching, with a black bat and two cardinals perched on each, all sewn on in chenille stitching. There thick red piping that runs around the collar and down both sides of the zipper front and meet together at the bottom of the zipper. There is additional thick red piping that runs vertical from the neck to the end of the sleeve, which has the same piping looping around. “Hearn” and “48” are embroidered in red stitching on the base of the front left tail.

The back of the jersey has Hearn’s number “34” sewn on in red and navy felt, and the inside collar has the “Rawlings St. Louis” tag sewn on. This jersey displays moderate game use with some stains present and displays toning due to age. A wonderful late 1940’s St. Louis Cardinals’ game worn jersey and it comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication.
