Jackie Robinson was one of the most memorable figures ever associated with the game, and inspiring stories, in abundance, exist about all facets of Robinson's career. Accordingly, the Dodger icon's rookie cards are viewed as important cornerstones in any accomplished card collection. One of Robinson's first commemoratives is among the keys in the popular baseball series produced by Leaf, a notably scarce post-war issue. The offered example is a quality depiction, with four well-formed corners and traces of wear seen primarily at the margins. The piece's grade is qualified as noted for spots of translucent staining (likely, from mucilaginous glue) in the bottom edge on the front and on the reverse, as well as faint crayon marks on the card's back.
