How dominant were the late-1940s Eagles under Greasy Neale? Well, not only did Steve Van Buren, Pete Pihos and company win back-to-back NFL Championship Games in '48 and '49, but they were the only team to do so with 2 shutouts! An integral member of the famed Eagle Defense was notoriously tough Frank "Bucko" Kilroy, whom an article on the Eagles website calls "arguably the most under-appreciated NFL legend of all time" and the influential "godfather of NFL scouting" who helped build the 1970s Cowboys dynasty. Presented here is Kilroy's 14K-gold 1948 championship charm and 5-point diamond mounted atop a modern 10K-gold ring band with related shank designs. Kilroy's name and position are imprinted on the underside of the charm, which naturally protrudes such that the ring cannot be sized or worn. EX-MT/NM condition. An accompanying 1999 purchase LOA recounts a rather incredible back-story: "This item was found by a workman in clearing of the 3rd and Washington Avenue Projects, in the demolishing debris at the work site, and was purchased from this owner by our firm."
