Anibal Paz was a fixture in net for Club Nacional de Football from 1939 to 1953, making 471 appearances for El Bolso across his legendary career. Paz, nicknamed El Canario, was a key figure in Nacional’s Quinquenio de Oro, winning five of his nine league titles with Nacional from 1939 to 1943. The montevideano played 24 times for the Uruguayan national soccer team, serving as the backup to La Celeste’s number one Roque Maspoli in the seminal 1950 FIFA World Cup.

Offered in this lot is a Club Nacional 50th Anniversary medal presented to Anibal Paz. The front of this circular silver medal has “50 Aniversario” etched in high relief next to a high relief flag bearing the white, blue, and red of Club Nacional. Etched on the back of the medal is a laurel wreath and “1899 / 14-Mayo / 1949” and “Anibal Paz”. This medal has a diameter of 1.25 inches and is in very good condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
