Eddie Stanky played two seasons for the Boston Braves after spending his first five seasons with the Chicago Cubs (1943-44 and Brooklyn Dodgers (1944-47). Stanky wore this flannel off-white zipper-front Braves jersey during the 1949 season in which he batted .285 and recorded 144 hits.

This size 42 jersey features “BRAVES” in red and black stitched felt material with the “V” missing and the “E” only in black outline. A tomahawk runs beneath the scripted “BRAVES”. Black/red/black piping runs parallel along the zipper-front, around the collar and along the bottom of the sleeves. A matching flannel “Stanky” patch is stitched on the inside back of the collar below a “Horace Partridge Athletic Goods” tag. Stanky’s number “12” is stitched in red felt outlined in black on the back of the jersey with slight fraying on the bottom left of the “2” and there is an Indian head logo on the left sleeve. Although the jersey shell, Braves, and tomahawk are original, the sleeve patch was replaced, the zipper is nonfunctioning, the number 12 was restored with modern parts , and there is visible damage to the BRAVES team name. This jersey comes with an LOA from MEARS who given the jersey an A4 grade.
