Offered is a Honus Wagner signature on a post card, accompanied by a black and white photograph of Wagner.  Wagner has signed the card “Honus Wagner” in black ink in the center of the ivory post card, which has a slight black postmark on the bottom right corner. The reverse side has a black cancellation stamp from “Carnegie, P.A. Apr 25 1949 5 PM”, and a handwritten address, in blue ink, “Skippy Campbell, 390 Waltham Street, West Newton, Mass.”  The black and white photograph depicts Wagner posing in his Pittsburgh Pirates uniform, and is captioned on the back “Hand-Printed Photograph Wagner John Peter (Honus), Pittsburgh Shortstop, Posing to Catch A Ball 1914”.

Wagner played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1897 to 1917, almost entirely for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a shortstop. Wagner won his eighth (and final) batting title in 1911, a National League record that remains unbroken to this day, and matched only once, in 1997, by Tony Gwynn. He also led the league in slugging six times and stolen bases five times. Wagner was nicknamed "The Flying Dutchman" due to his superb speed and German heritage. In 1936, the Baseball Hall of Fame inducted Wagner as one of the first five members. He received the second-highest vote total, behind Ty Cobb and tied with Babe Ruth. This item comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (S07434).
