In 1949, the New York Yankees stole the American League pennant from the Boston Red Sox, sweeping the Sox in a two-game series at the end of the regular season to win the flag by a single game. The Yankees dominated the Brooklyn Dodgers in a five-game World Series to begin an unprecedented title streak. The Bronx Bombers won the 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1953 World Series, a championship streak that remains a major league record. 1949 was Casey Stengel’s first year at the helm of the Yankees, and he would lead the team to seven World Series titles before leaving after the 1960 season. The 1949 edition of the Yankees were led by Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto, while Joe DiMaggio, despite battling injuries, hit for a .346 average and made his 11th All-Star team.

Offered here is a 1949 Hillerich & Bradsby George “Babe” Ruth retail model bat signed by 39 members of the 1949 Yankees.
