In his senior year at Ohio State University Curly Morrison led the Buckeyes to the Rose Bowl. This was 1950 and that year's game would be the first one televised nationally. Sports fans across the nation watched as Morrison rushed for 119 yards to beat the University of California 17-14 and marked Ohio State's first ever bowl victory. Curly became an instant star and was named the Rose Bowl MVP. This 14 1/2" x 16 1/2" wooden plaque from the Southern California Chapter Football Writers of America proclaims Morrison "The outstanding player of the California - Ohio State football game played January 2, 1950". The colorful plaque is signed by the writers and president. The back of the plaque has a brass mounting device and the MVP himself has signed in black marker. An important and early award from the greatest event of the college football season. The first bowl win for Ohio State.
