Presented is an original 7 x 9 inch black and white photograph of the great Jackie Robinson with his young son Jackie, Jr. and his mother-in-law Zellee Isum taken on February 4, 1950. Robinson arrived in Los Angeles to begin filming The Jackie Robinson Story which was released that same year. Robinson is shown squatting down to his young son’s size with Mrs. Isum to the left and a TWA stair ramp in the background.
The back of the photograph has a blue “INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS” stamp and a pink “CENTRAL PRESS ASSOCIATION FEB 6-1950 REFERENCE DEPT.” stamp on the back. The front of the photograph has a caption that reads: JACKIE ROBINSON, BROOKLYN DODGER STAR INFIELDER, IS SHOWN AS HE ARRIVED HERE BY AIR FROM NEW YORK TO BEGIN WORK ON MOVIE “THE JACKIE ROBINSON STORY.” HE WAS GREETED BY HIS SON, JACKIE JR., AND BY HIS MOTHER-IN-LAW, MRS. ZELLEE ISUM, LEFT. FILM BASED ON HIS LIFE AND MET-EORIC RISE TO FAME WITH THE BUMS WILL BE RELEASE BY EAGLE-LION.. The photograph is in good condition with only minor edge and corner wear. The upper left corner has some crease marks and there are two small puncture marks on the bottom right of the picture. This is a great photograph of one of baseball’s most important figures outside of baseball during the prime of his career.
