Although the “Wiz Kids” Phillies were the talk of the 1950 baseball season, the Yankees made short work of them by sweeping them in the World Series. The ’50 Yanks won 98 games that year, finishing 3 games above Detroit. The New Yorkers featured 21-game winner Vic Raschi and a young kid named Whitey Ford who contributed a 9-1 record. Joe DiMaggio had his last great season, batting .301 with 32 home runs, while shortstop Phil Rizzuto led the club with a .324 average. This ball collects 24 members of the 1950 World Champions including Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, and Johnny Mize plus Gene Woodling, Ralph Houk, Hank Bauer, Bob Muncrief, Jerry Coleman, Bob Porterfield, Fred Sanford, Cliff Mapes, Johnny Hopp, Vic Raschi, Tom Ferrick, Charlie Silvera, Eddie Lopat, Tommy Byrne, Joe Ostrowski, Frank O’Shea, Joe Page, and Bill Johnson. The Reach Official American League ball shows light toning and the black fountain pen signature display nicely on its cream-colored surface. This ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (J86738) for the signatures and a letter of provenance from Max Lawson, the great-nephew of Casey Stengel, who attests that this ball has been in their family's possession.
