It was “The Shot Heard Round the World” – the 9th inning three run homer that won the 1951 pennant for the Giants – that made Bobby Thomson a household name. This bat dates to that magical 1951 season as well the subsequent two years when Thomson led the NL in triples and made the last of his three All-Star appearances. Based on the combination of center brand and barrel stamps, PSA/DNA has dated this bat to the 1951-1953 period. In addition, the “C” after the model number was used to denote retail model bats, however it has been shown that Adirondack retail bats were used in Major League games. The Adirondack 110C model bat shows excellent use with holes in the handle that have been restored. Several ball marks and stitch impressions are found on the right, left and back barrel. The model number “110C” is stamped into the knob and Thomson’s number “23” is hand written on the knob in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B11197) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.
