The 1951 MLB All-Star Game took place in Briggs Field in Detroit, as part of the city of Detroit’s 250th Birthday Festival. Jackie Robinson started this game, and his 2-for-4 effort, which included a run scored, RBI, and a walk, helped power the National League squad to an 8-3 victory over the American League. This was Robinson’s third of his six All-Star appearances. His Dodger teammates Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, Don Newcombe, and Duke Snider also appeared in this Mid-Summer Classic.

The cover of this program is metallic silver, and features a photograph of Briggs Stadium. Detroit’s 250th anniversary crest also appears on the cover. Robinson signed the front cover in pen that has since faded slightly. He also signed below his picture in the program, in much clearer pen. 1950 National League Rookie of the Year Sam Jethroe also signed the front of the program. PSA/DNA has deemed the other two signatures unidentifiable. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (W05640).
