Harvey Kuenn used this bat during his first two seasons in the majors. The Detroit shortstop made a great first impression by leading the AL in hits and setting a rookie record by banging out 167 singles. Kuenn was selected for the Rookie Of The Year Award and made the first of 10 consecutive All-Star teams. This rookie era Hillerich & Bradsby S5 model bat is un-cracked and exhibits heavy use. Several ball marks are visible on all sides of the barrel and some checking from repeated ball contact is found on the back barrel. There are green and red bat rack paint streaks present and the model number “S5” is stamped into the knob. The player number “44” of Tigers pitcher Billy Hoeft has been painted on the knob in black. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15413) for the game use.
