Graded 20 FR 1.5 by SGC. Hall of Famer, in his debut Topps gum card appearance. The offered piece carries the evidence of past handling proudly, while easily retaining its hobby-icon mystique. The deep colors of the item's design, especially the familiar aqua-colored background, continue to project enticingly, and the white interlocking "NY" on the front of Mickey's cap still contrasts sharply against dark navy blue. The corners are well-formed for the grade, and the reverse displays clear, uninterrupted printing.

Overall, SGC's evaluation of the card's status is technically accurate, but the surface creases bringing about the assessment – in consideration of their natural occurrence through use, not abuse – are readily accepted and understood. Most collectors would agree that this card – a supremely desirable entry from the issue's "High Number" series – conveys an aura far superior to the image that usually comes to mind upon hearing the expression "Fair." Potentially an outstanding value in a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle – the Mick's most famous card – in Fair condition.
