Graded GD+ 2.5 by PSA. Hall of Famer. This is the only example at its tier (with none graded higher) among a total of just six copies recorded in PSA's census reporting. Offered is an extraordinary specimen of a widely pursued and universally coveted subject from the perpetually difficult Briggs Meats release of 1953-54. This premium-sized, hand-cut rarity was directly excised, with care, from its manufacturer's product packaging design. The original piece's indisputable focal point, clearly, was this superb trading card collectible of Willie Mays positioned at the panel's right center. The athlete's portrait gracing this card (actually, the same, pleasing image that was also employed in the time's contemporary Stahl-Meyer Franks regional issue) visually reverberates within its surround. The offered item is comparable to a freshly mined diamond in its original milieu – and every bit as rare! The blank-backed, condition-sensitive treasure carries soaring display properties, with relatively inconsequential traces of product or package-wax disturbance. Good-plus condition, and the best-imaginable survivor of its extremely challenging type!
