This lot is part of the Jackie Robinson 71^st Anniversary Auction to benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation 

The 1953 World Series saw the cross-town rivals Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees met yet again in the Fall Classic and like all of the matchups until 1955, the Yankees came out victorious. Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, and Gil McDougald hit two home runs each to overcome a shaky pitching performance from the Yankees staff. This 1953 World Series program has been signed by 44 members of the Yankees and Dodgers. The Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider (who also signed the interior), as well as Billy Martin and Carl Erskine, have signed the cover. Signatures on the inside of the program include Hall of Famers Babe Herman, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Johnny Mize, Pee Wee Reese, and Dick Williams. The remaining signatures include Jim Turner, Cookie Lavagetto, Allie Reynolds, Ed Lopat, Vic Raschi, Gil McDougald, Gene Woodling, Hank Bauer, Johnny Sain, Jerry Coleman, Joe Collins, Bob Kuzava, Jim McDonald, Irv Noren, Andy Carey, Charlie Silvera, Willie Miranda, Tom Gorman, Don Bollweg, Ralph Houk, Steve Kraly, Art Schallock, Bill Renna, a second Carl Erskine signature, Russ Meyer, Clem Labine, Billy Loes, Don Thompson, Johnny Podres, Joe Black, George “Shotgun” Shuba, Rube Walker, and Don Newcombe. The signatures have been written in blue pen. This program, which is in fair condition, comes with a LOA from JSA (X39844). Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium.
