Graded NM 7 by SGC. Hall of Famer. Among more than 1,000 copies recorded in SGC’s census reporting, just thirty-six examples (less than four percent of the card's total population) have been placed at a higher tier. Here is an abundantly appealing '53 Topps depiction, the company's treasured second-year tribute to a Yankee icon. The attractive and sought-after collectible, presenting the prized illustration of "The Mick" with admirable clarity, retains extremely sharp corners. The red caption block on the cardfront's lower left is wonderfully bright with faint touches of wear confined to the delicate edges and the outermost tip. The card boasts truly splendid presentation quality, and has clearly been heavily penalized in grading its grading assessment for the slightly imprecise positioning of the obverse image. A very worthy example of this coveted early Mantle, in minimally Near Mint condition.
