Actor James Dean, a cultural icon for a generation of angst-ridden youth, has signed this 8 ½ x 10 ½ -inch questionnaire and biography file for Theatre World. Dean signed his name on the top portion of the questionnaire and filled out his place of birth, date of birth, theatre apprenticeship, his debut on Broadway, and other plays on Broadway that the brooding actor appeared in. Dean, true to his rebellious form, inscribed “F*#k em,” to the question regarding his appearances in motion pictures. The questionnaire was filled out by Dean in blue ink, and the item contains two crease folds from being folded. The questionnaire filled out by James Dean signed and inscribed by the famous actor comes encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (84314036) and is graded AUTHENTIC AUTO and comes with an additional LOA from Beckett Authentication (AA06669).

The second item in this presented lot is a 1956 Altenburg Film Stars caricature of James Dean. This item is one of four examples recorded in PSA’s census reporting, graded MINT 9, with only two others achieving a higher grade. The caricature features the iconic rebel Dean smoking a cigarette while standing atop a pedestal labeled “JIMMY” with a heart drawn beneath his name. Encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (24002326) and graded MINT 9, is an endearing, caricature-style depiction of one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars, in MINT condition.
