In 1954, Yogi Berra won the second of his three Most Valuable Player Awards. From 1950 through 1957, Berra never finished lower than 4th in the MVP voting, clearly demonstrating his immense talent both behind and in front of the plate. This award was presented to Berra after he was named the 1954 American League MVP. This wooden shield-shaped piece measures 11 ¾ x 15 inches. A center mounted engraved brass plaque reads “Presented to Lawrence Berra New York Yankees The Most Valuable Player in the American League in 1954 by the Boston Chapter B.B.W.A.A. 1955”. The plaque is surmounted by a trio of dimensional stars and flanked by two golden-colored floral motifs. The plaque shows some scuffing from age and display, and the brass plaque is lightly tarnished, none of which affects the legibility or display quality of the award. The plate comes with a full LOA from Steiner for its Yogi Berra Estate provenance.
