In addition to the gum maker's baseball and football productions, Bowman issued a number of very attractive non-sports card series. With Cold War rhetoric fresh in their minds, the military proved to be a popular choice to appeal to a 1950s audience. Locating truly high-grade assemblies of this issue has been a persistent challenge for collectors. To date, more than 2,050 cards from this set have been submitted to PSA and only eighty-six specimens have achieved a PSA MINT 9 or higher assessment.
