After a solid rookie campaign in 1954 for the Milwaukee Braves, Hall of Famer Hank Aaron began to accelerate his ascent in to the National League’s upper echelon. During the three seasons between 1955 and 1957, Aaron averaged 32 home runs and 110 RBI with a solid .310 batting average. Aaron won the NL batting title in 1956 and was the NL MVP in 1957 as he led the league in both home runs (44) and RBI (132), all while leading the upstart Braves to a World Series title victory over the New York Yankees.
Hammerin Hank used this Hillerich & Bradsby R43 model bat between the 1955 and 1957 seasons, where he combined for 97 of his 755 career home runs. As would be expected from the hitting prowess of Aaron, this bat displays heavy game use and has cracks on the handle that have been secured by nails. There is deadwood on the back barrel and there is a chip in the knob. The model number “R43” has been stamped on the knob end. The bat’s length of 35 inches, along with the weight “32 oz” is consistent with the factory orders of Aaron during this three-season period. A tremendous early career gamer from the former home run king. This bat comes with a LOA from MEARS (315711), who have graded this bat an A6.5.
