Jackie Robinson wore this blue Brooklyn Dodgers cap during the 1955 and 1956 seasons, his final two in the Major Leagues. The Hall of Fame second baseman showed signs of his advancing age in those seasons, but still finished the 1956 season with a significant amount of votes for National League MVP and a WAR of 4.5. After the 1956 season, Robinson was traded to the New York Giants, but he retired rather than play for a team other than his beloved Dodgers.

     This six-panel navy blue cap features a white gothic embroidered “B” on the front and a white button on the cap. “JR 42” is burned into the leather sweatband on the interior. This cap, manufactured by Tim McAuliffe, Inc., shows heavy signs of game use. There are stains all around the size 7 3/8 hat, including on the bill and the crown button. This is an incredible relic of baseball history from a player whose impact on the game cannot be measured. This cap comes with a Letter of Provenance from Bill Hongach and a LOA from MEARS.
