Curly Morrison became an instant star when he led his Ohio State Buckeyes to victory in the first televised Rose Bowl Game in 1950. He was the Bears first round draft pick and really came into his own as a key member of the Cleveland Browns club that won three consecutive championships. Morrison's finest season was 1955 in which he was singled out and recognized by the Athletic Club of Columbus and awarded this impressive trophy. The 18 1/2" trophy consists of a 7" tall football player in mid-run atop a gold colored trophy cup. This is in turn mounted on a wooden base on which an engraved plaque reads: "The Outstanding Pro Football Player of the Year 1955 Fred Morrison Cleveland Browns Presented by The Athletic Club of Columbus, Ohio". The piece shows light use from its display over the decades and remains in beautiful condition. Best of all, Curly Morrison has proudly signed the base of the trophy in bold black marker making this a truly unique piece of early NFL history. Browns championship season.
