Offered is the “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Certificate of Nomination for Award” to movie producer Michael Todd for his film, “Around the World in 80 Days” as “Best Motion Picture of 1956”. The 12 x 14-inch wood plaque has a laminated color certificate on the front with the seal of the Academy in gold with red ribbon in the lower left corner, and in the center of the certificate is a gold line drawing of the “Oscar” as background to the text, which is in black ink.
Mike Todd was an American theater and film producer, best known for his 1956 production of “Around the World in 80 Days,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Overall, the film was nominated for eight Oscars, winning five, including Best Director, Michael Anderson. The all-star cast was led by David Niven and Shirley MacLaine, with cameo appearances by a “who’s who” of Hollywood including Marlene Dietrich and Frank Sinatra.
