While the 1956 World Series featured the only perfect game in postseason history, it was also notable for being the last set of games ever played by Jackie Robinson. Rather than accept an offseason trade to the New York Giants, Robinson quit the sport, hanging up his spikes at the age of 38. Game 7, a 9-0 defeat against the Yankees, was Robinson’s final game. He reached base once, on a walk, as Yankees’ starter Johnny Kucks threw a three-hit, complete game shutout. This was the Dodgers last World Series before the moved to Los Angeles, a disappointing end to one of the greatest teams in baseball history.
