In 1956 the Milwaukee Braves came within one game of unseating the Brooklyn Dodgers for the pennant. The Braves featured two of the best pitchers in the game, Warren Spahn and Lew Burdette, plus a hard-hitting lineup that included Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews and Joe Adcock – the three combining for 101 home runs that summer. This was the same team that would succeed in overtaking Brooklyn the next year and win back-to-back pennants and a World Championship. 27 members of the 1956 Braves have signed this Spalding Official National League Giles ball in blue pen including Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews and Warren Spahn plus Fred Haney, Andy Pafko, John Riddle, Bob Keely, Johnny Logan, Bobby Thomson, Dave Jolley, Joe Adcock, Red Murff, Bob Buhl, Chuck Tanner, Bob Trowbridge, Del Crandall, Bobby O’Connell, Frank Jones, Felix Mantilla, Gene Conley, Ernie Johnson, Del Rice, Taylor Phillips, Ray Crone and Lou Sleater.
