Graded NM 7 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in his Rookie Card appearance. Among a total of more than 900 copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, just over ten percent have been placed at a higher tier. The 1957/58 Topps basketball set contains a fabulous gallery of superstars and rookies. The issue features cards that are capable of displaying tremendous illustrations under attractive gloss and, when available in a satisfactory state of preservation, they truly enliven a collection. The offered treasure, marking the debut of hardcourt legend Bill Russell, was short-printed in the production, and it has (by a large margin) evolved as the issue's centerpiece. Favorable image alignment distinguishes this particular, inaugural memento of a great player who appeared on very few cards. Its condition is highly laudable, especially in consideration of the often crudely translated product from which it hails. The card boasts sharp, barely touched corners, blazing color, and a super-clear, unusually snow-free action image of the young Russell. Here is a standout specimen of a very popular player's first card, in pleasing Near Mint condition.
