The Houston Buffaloes minor league baseball club was the first minor league team affiliated with a Major League Baseball franchise. Houston was an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals and played in the Texas League. In 1957, the Buffaloes finished with a 97-57 record and in the playoffs went on to win the league championship. Now champs of the Texas League, the Buffaloes would face off against the Atlanta Crackers in the 1957 Dixie Series – a postseason best-of-seven contest between the playoff champs of the Southern Association and the Texas League. Houston would win the series, four games to two.

Offered here is a 10K gold 1957 Houston Buffaloes Dixie Series championship ring that was presented to former Major Leaguer Nelson Burbrink, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1955. Burbrink would later become a scout for the Cardinals, Mets and Brewers. This ring features a diamond set on a red colored stone. Around the stone’s bezel setting reads “HOUSTON TEXAS DIXIE CHAMPIONS” in relief work. The shanks feature an image of a buffalo along with the year “1957”. A “10K” mark appears inside the band of this approximate size 11 ½ ring. This item weighs approximately 19.7 grams. This ring comes with a LOA from the family of Nelson Burbrink.
