Presented here is Ralph Terry’s signed New York Yankees Uniform Player’s Contract for the 1957 MLB season. Terry, in his second Major League season, pitched in seven games for the Yankees before a June trade sent the future World Series MVP to the Kansas City Athletics with Billy Martin, Bob Martyn and Woodie Held in exchange for Ryne Duren, Jim Pisoni, and Harry Simpson. Terry’s temporary exile in Kansas City lasted for two seasons, until a trade in May of 1959 saw Terry rejoin the Yankees.
This contract is for a salary of $6,000, and it has been signed by both Terry and Yankees executive Lee MacPhail. This contract contains language detailing Terry’s move west to Kansas City, nearer to his home in Chelsea, Oklahoma. The contract has been signed twice in blue pen by American League President William Harridge. This contract comes with a LOA from JSA (Z67473).
