This lot is part of the Jackie Robinson 71st Anniversary Auction to benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation

In a career that lasted just shy of 20 years, Enos Slaughter was a hit-machine, cranking out 2,383 and clocking in at number two on the list of career doubles. Slaughter played the game like his life depended on it - best illustrated by his furious base running during Game 7 of the 1946 World Series. By 1955 Slaughter's legs might have slowed a bit but his bat didn't. The New York Yankees eagerly took him on as a utility and pinch-hitter and he became an integral part of their late 1950's championship teams.

By 1958, at the age of 42, Slaughter was still producing for the Yankees. Limited to 77 games in 1958, Slaughter still batted a healthy .304 with a slugging percentage of .435. This would be Slaughter’s last full season wit the Yankees. This offered Hillerich & Bradsby M110 model bat was used by Slaughter during the 1958 season. This bat displays outstanding use and has a crack on the handle that has been repaired. There are many ball marks and cleat marks present on the barrel. The bat’s model number “M110” is stamped on the knob and Slaughter’s number “17” was applied in black paint – which displays some fading and chipping. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12903) and has been graded a solid GU 8.5. Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium. Goldin Auctions will be donating 10% of the winning bid price to The Jackie Robinson Foundation.
