June Premium Card and Memorabilia auction ending June 26-27
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2021
This lot closes on June 27, 2021 at 10:00 PM EDT for initial bids. Presented here is an Official Little League baseball signed by Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby, and two other players. A two-time Triple Crown winner, Hornsby also collected seven batting titles and two National League MVP awards. Few second basemen of any era can match Hornsby’s accomplishments, which include 301 home runs and the second highest batting average (.358) of all-time. Hornsby cleared the .400 mark in batting average three times, including in 1924, when he hit for an almost unbelievable .424 average. In 1926, as the player-manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, Hornsby led the team to a World Series championship. “SPALDING” and “HORSEHIDE COVER” are stamped in black on the east panel. Hall of Famer Hornsby signed his name boldly across the sweet spot of the baseball and inscribed “1959” in blue ink. The baseball features some black markings and early elements of toning and comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
