With the Blackhawks now reigning as NHL champs, there's no better time to hearken back to the team's pivotal 1960/61 title. Pierre Pilote and Bobby Hull tallied 15 and 14 points respectively in the Stanley Cup Finals as the Blackhawks topped the Red Wings in 6 games. The championship marked the pinnacle of GM Tommy Ivan's franchise turn-around. Back in 1955, the acclaimed team-builder had left Detroit to bring his magic touch to the Windy City and pull the lowly Blackhawks up by their skate straps. By 1960/61, the small crowds had become sellout crowds and cellar-dwelling had become Stanley Cup glory. In striking NM condition, this Balfour salesman's sample seems never to have been worn and only to have been safeguarded ever since it was originally produced more than a half-century ago. The gold-plated, size 12-1/4 memento displays ten CZ stones and a Blackhawk figure on its face, with shank ornamentation of the Stanley Cup Trophy, the Tomahawk logo, and "1960-1961." A Balfour box accompanies.
