Presented here is a Willie Mays worn undershirt given to a team bat boy during the 1960s. As a member of the New York/San Francisco Giants and New York Mets, Mays built a reputation as perhaps the best five-tool player in Major League history. With 660 home runs and two National League MVP awards, Mays was a 24-time All-Star during his career. In 1979, Mays was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, appearing on 94.7% of the ballots.
This undershirt is a three button pullover shirt. It has black, cut sleeves and an off-white body. “Mays” and “Bat Boy” are written on the back outside collar. They both show evidence of fading from use and laundering but both are legible. This item comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
