A Yankee since 1955, Elston Howard was groomed to be Yogi Berra’s successor behind the plate. By 1960 Howard was ready and he quickly made his presence known. In 1963 he did his predecessor proud by not only winning the Gold Glove Award but also taking the American League MVP Award with a .287 average, 28 home runs, 85 RBI and a .528 slugging average. This MVP season Hillerich & Bradsby K55model bat shows excellent use with a handle crack. Several ball marks can be seen on the barrel along with bat rack paint streaks. The handle has been scored to enhance the grip and the model number is stamped into the knob. The weight “32” is handwritten on the knob in pencil as well. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B10625) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.
