Legendary Uruguayan-Italian footballer Alcides Ghiggia was issued this Italian passport in 1962 while playing for A.C. Milan. Ghiggia, who scored the famous Maracanazo goal against Brazil in the 1950 FIFA World Cup Finals, joined A.C. Milan for the 1961-62 season after spending much of the previous decade playing for Milan’s fellow Serie A club A.S. Roma. Ghiggia helped lead A.C. Milan to their eighth Serie A title in 1961-62 before returning to Uruguay to finish his playing career with Danubio. While playing in Italy, Ghiggia made five appearances for the Italian national soccer team.

This passport is a green Italian passport, and it lists Ghiggia’s profession as “calciotore”. A photograph of Ghiggia is included in this passport, and he has signed the document in blue pen. Printed on the cover of this passport in gold is “Repubblica Italiana Passaporto”. This item is in very good condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
