Presented is a very early signature, 1962 vintage, of John Lennon on a cut photo from the Cavern Club, the Liverpool, England nightclub that was the early home base for Lennon and The Beatles. The late singer, guitarist and songwriter has inscribed “To Jenny Love from John Lennon” in black pen on the back of a 2 ½ x 4-inch black & white cut photo of Lennon in a leather jacket holding a guitar. The Beatles made their first appearance at the club on February 9, 1961 after returning to Liverpool from Hamburg, Germany where they had been playing at the Indra and the Kaiserkeller clubs. Their stage show had been through a lot of changes, with some in the audience thinking they were watching a German band as they were billed from Hamburg. From 1961 to 1963 The Beatles made 292 appearances at the club, with their last occurring on August 3, 1963, a month after the band recorded "She Loves You" and just six months before the Beatles' first trip to the United States. This item has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (81493134) and the signature is graded MINT 9.
