Presented here is a baseball that Stan Musial hit for the 3,431st hit of his Major League career. Musial got this hit in the top of the ninth inning of a game on May 19th, 1962, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He took a Ron Perranoski offering to right field for a single to get this milestone hit. This hit was a part of an 8-1 Cardinals victory and moved him into first place in the all-time hits category for the National League, passing Honus Wagner. Musial would go on to collect 3,630 hits in his Major League career, which ended with a plaque in Cooperstown. This Official National League Warren Giles baseball is made by Spalding, and features Musial’s signature to the left of the sweet spot. The Cardinals outfielder wrote, in black pen, “To Hal / Best Wishes / 3431 May 19, 1962”. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for the signature and a LOA from the family of Hal Smith, a teammate of Musial on the 1962 St. Louis Cardinals team.
