Presented here is an original schedule from the March on Washington, one of the seminal moments of the Civil Rights movement. Held on August 28, 1963, the March on Washington was attended by over 200,000 activists and protestors, and featured a litany of speeches by some of the greatest orators in American history. It was here that Martin Luther King gave his “I Have a Dream Speech” on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

The March on Washington, which was primarily organized by Bayard Rustin and A. Phillip Randolph, led to sweeping Civil Rights reforms, and was instrumental in the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

This schedule details the itinerary for the Medical Committee for Civil Rights on and around the March on Washington. The schedule is four pages long, and three are double sided. This schedule provides an incredible look into the details surrounding one of the largest protests in American history, and is an invaluable resource for understanding a tumultuous time in America. This item comes with a LOA from University Archives.
