Offered here is a 1963 Pittsburgh Pirates team-signed baseball from Spring Training that has been signed by 29 members of that squad. While the Pirates didn’t particularly enjoy 1963, the Pirates still had a plethora of talent on the team and what makes this ball special are the bold signatures of Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski and Willie Stargell. All of the signatures on this un-marked baseball have been signed in blue and black ballpoint pen with Clemente’s signature appearing on one of the sweet spot panels in blue. Mazeroski’s blue ink signature appears on the south panel below Clemente’s sweet spot, along with Bill Virdon, Bob Puddy, Ron Brand, an unidentified player, Bob Baily and Bob Veale (black ink).
Stargell, who was starting his second season in 1963, signed his name in blue on the north panel, along with the signatures of Jim Pagliaroni, Jerry Lynch, Vern Law, Don Schwall and Tom Parsons. Manager Danny Murtaugh signed his name in blue across the opposite sweet spot panel. The west panel has the signatures in blue of General Manager Joe L. Brown, Frank Oceak, Don Cardwell, Gene Alley, Smoky Burgess, Tom Butters and Steve Blass. The east panel has the signatures of Pirates trainer Danny Whelan, Mickey Vernon, Dick Schofield, Frank an unidentified player, Sam Narron and Jim Pagliaroni. This baseball is in good condition and displays on minor toning. This multi-signed baseball comes with a LOA from JSA (Y68246).
