The Buffalo Bills dominated American Football League competition in 1964, a season that ended with their 20-7 victory over the reigning champion San Diego Chargers in the AFL Championship Game, played on December 26, 1964 at War Memorial Stadium. The Bills were a force on both sides of the ball, finishing the regular season with a record of 12-2, as they ranked first in the league in both points scored (28.6 per game) and points against (17.3 per game). They fielded Pro Bowl players at many positions including QB Jack Kemp, RB Cookie Gilchrist, TE Ernie Warlick, and DBs Butch Byrd and George Saimes. Indeed, the Bills were a very skilled and balanced squad.

Presented here is the 1964 AFL Champions Ring presented to Warlick, who averaged 20.8 yards per catch that season and who was named a Pro Bowler in every year of his brief four-year career (1962-65). The Jostens 10K ring features a 26-point diamond set among images of a buffalo and a football player on a football backdrop. The year 1964 is represented with “19” to the left of the diamond and “64” to the right of the diamond. “BUFFALO BILLS AFL CHAMPIONS” is displayed around the perimeter. The left shank of the ring lists the teams and final score of the title game along with the AFL logo. Appearing on the other side of the band is Warlick’s name and number, as well as a relief image of a Bills helmet. Inside the band is the Jostens trademark and 10K. Ring size is approximately 11 ½ with the approximate weight being 29.1 grams.
