New York Yankees catcher Elston Howard has signed this Topps Chewing Gum contract extension agreement dated to May 17th, 1964. This contract extends Howard’s agreement for an additional two seasons. Howard, the first African-American player in Yankees history, won the 1963 American League MVP trophy and was a member of each American League All-Star team from 1957 through 1965. Howard has signed this contract in blue pen, inscribing “May 17, 1964” after his signature. Handwritten on the bottom of this one-page contract is “P.S. 108 Piece Set of International Sterling Silver Sculptured Beauty Pattern”. Also included in this lot is an ungraded Elston Howard 1966 Topps baseball card. This contract comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
