Presented here is a baseball that was used in Game 7 of the 1964 World Series. This baseball has been signed by Barney Schultz, a veteran knuckleballer who appeared in four games during the World Series. Schultz, who earned the save in Game 1, also gave up Mickey Mantle's record-breaking 16th career World Series home run in Game 7 that put him past Babe Ruth on the all-time World Series home run list. The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Yankees in seven games, with starting pitcher Bob Gibson earning World Series MVP honors. Gibson started three games, including Game 5, in which he threw a ten inning complete game as the Cardinals beat the Yankees 5-2. Gibson also started Game 7, throwing another complete game as the Cards held on to win 7-5.  Schultz signed the sweet spot of this ball in blue pen. He added the inscription “Game Used Ball / Game 7 Win / 10-15-64”. This item has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication and comes with a LOA from Mears, who have deemed this baseball authentic to use in the World Series based on the inscription.
