It was against Sonny Liston that Muhammad Ali announced himself as the best boxer in the world. In their first meeting, on May 25th, 1965, the boxer then known as Cassius Clay defeated Liston, earning the heavyweight championship in the process. Their second fight, held a year later, is still regarded as one of the most controversial boxing matches of all-time. Ali floored Liston in the first round with a punch thrown so fast Ali himself did not know if it connected. This moment birthed Neil Leifer’s iconic photograph of Ali standing over an incapacitated Liston. This fight is one of the most iconic of the 20th century, and will surely be remembered forever. Offered is a ticket from that famous May 25th, 1965 fight. The ticket is in good condition and has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (22177264) and graded a FULL NM 7. This item also comes with the envelope and letter it was sent to the recipient in.
