The greatest legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidency is the work he did to advance Civil Rights. Starting with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson helped to increase voting rights and continued to lead the push towards desegregating public schools.
In this document, President Johnson names William L. Taylor as the Staff Director for the Commission on Civil Rights. Taylor was a lifelong supporter of Civil Rights, whose political career lasted well into the 2000’s. Johnson signed the bottom of this document in slightly faded black pen. Secretary of State Dean Rusk also signed this document in black pen. This item measures 23x20 inches and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (Z05307).
