Even though he won three Gold Gloves and had three trips to the All-Star Game, Joe Pepitone never quite lived up to the heavy expectation put upon him. As one of the only native New Yorkers on the team, Yankees fans loved their Joe, but too many late nights eventually took their toll on Pepitone’s promising career. This Hillerich & Bradsby P104 model bat dates from the mid-1960’s and shows excellent use and is un-cracked. Slight checking from repeated ball contact is found on the back barrel and several ball marks and stitch impressions are visible. Blue and red bat rack paint streaks are on the barrel and a light coat of pine tar is found on the lower handle. The model number “P104” is stamped into the knob and Pepitone’s number “#25” is written on the knob and barrel end in black marker (added when he autographed the barrel). Pepitone was signed the barrel in black marker adding “Best Wishes” and “#25”. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B07121) for the game use, with a grade of GU 8 and a COA from PSA/DNA (AC41461) for the signature.
